Since 1984
About
Wick Rice Cabinetry was founded in 1984 by Wick Rice. Shortly after moving to the Big Island of Hawaii, Wick found his niche and began making custom cabinetry. Overtime, Wick Rice Cabinetry gained a reputation in the construction community for making high-quality residential cabinetry.
Fast forward to 2007, Robert Malovic was restoring antiques damaged by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and applied for a cabinet maker position with Wick, which his wife found in the West Hawaii Today classifieds. Six weeks later, Robert and his wife, Catherine, packed up and moved to the Big Island, even though neither of them had ever visited before.
Robert worked under Wick's mentorship for 14 years before taking over the business in 2022. Wick was the best boss Robert ever had, which is he stuck around so long. Robert’s vision for the company’s future is to continuously build on Wick’s foundation that he began laying in 1984.
Our philosophy is simple: Promote an inclusive work place culture, continuously improve the process, and make the best product we possibly can.
The Shop
Our 10,000 sq ft shop in Kailua-Kona consists of a blend of traditional woodworking machinery and state of the art automated machinery, such as CNC machines. Although technology is intertwined into the woodshop, the final call in grain and color matching ultimately lies in the hands (and eyes) of our team of skilled cabinet makers.
